When the season to be jolly rolls around, I usually buy 2 boxes of gorgeous, heavy- stock cards to send to friends from long ago. My intentions are to hand-write substantive holiday missives, executed with thoughtful consideration and communicated with heart-felt sincerity. Buried by the December onslaught of activity, I usually just end up attaching them to gifts for family members and local friends, and the relationships with the friends I don’t see very often (yet adore!) grow more distant.
But, last year, I discovered Cartolina, a $1.99 i-Phone app that enables you to send out some really beautifully designed digital greetings via text/SMS. Now, Cartolina launched a new app, Postale, which is free and allows you to design and send out a custom holiday postcard to your nears and dears in the U.S. for $1.99.
Perhaps, hand-written cards shouldn’t be replaced altogether, but if time escapes you, go easy on yourself, and use this friction-free way to keep in touch…at least for this year.
